Great Service & Great Employees-Our Secret to Success

City Wide Heating & Cooling, Inc. has been serving the greater Kansas City area since 1949. We are a full-service heating and cooling company that has been family owned and operated for over 70 years. How does a company stay in business for seven decades? The answer is easy - great service. Sure the concept of great service is easy to understand. But the actual delivering of great service is where most companies fail. At City Wide, it’s been instilled in every employee since Charles “Chuck” Duval became a part of the business.

Forced Air Heating and Cooling - the Wave of the Future

In 1952, Chuck was hired by a local homebuilder who started City Wide Heating & Cooling, Inc. in 1949 to provide better HVAC service to his homebuyers. He recognized that heating and cooling were crucial components of the home building business. At the time, forced air heating systems were becoming standard in homes and cooling was soon to follow. Chuck realized that homebuyers wanted comfort year round and he pioneered this new market to homebuilders, architects and engineers throughout the metro Kansas City area.

Building a Business

As business grew, customers realized they could trust Chuck and City Wide Heating & Cooling, Inc. to treat them the way they deserved to be treated. He developed a loyal following of customers. Within a short period of time, he became co-owner of City Wide and continued to build the company. In 1963, after City Wide had experienced significant growth, he became the sole owner of the company.

Keeping it All in the Family

The company wasn’t the only thing Chuck was expanding. His own family grew as well. In 1964, he and his wife had their sixth child. Eventually, all five sons chose to join their father in the family business. Each one understood their father’s dedication to his customers and continued the proud tradition. Chuck retired in 1988 and today, his five sons continue the City Wide tradition of excellence.

Continuing a Proud Tradition

We are proud that City Wide Heating & Cooling, Inc. remains a family owned and operated business and we still carry on the values that Dad instilled in us at a young age: work hard, be a man of your word, take pride in your work by providing high quality service, and make some friends along the way.
